Let’s work up a sweat in the hot Tosa summer!

Although the temperatures seem to be going up and down, don’t fret – the season of Yosakoi is almost here!

The International Yosakoi Team, which started as a volunteer group from the Kochi Club in Kochi Prefecture, is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary! Our team is made up of participants of all ages, with people from countries all over the world. Six years ago, we enjoyed Kochi’s blazing summer with a total of 150 dancers, including 60 foreigners from 19 different countries.

Although we haven’t participated in the main festival for the past four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we never stopped our activities. For example, we taught Yosakoi in workshops and interacted remotely with a university in West India. But this year, we are excited to announce our triumphant return to the main festival!

As our team name suggests, our goal is to foster international exchange. Our values are based on “harmony (和)“ and “community” (輪)”, both pronounced “wa” in Japanese.
